Volunteer Opportunities

Client Advocate
Reaching out to women by offering practical assistance as a one-on-one advocate offering information and resources to help with them in their various circumstances.  Advocates listen, educate, and share our free services and resources. Advocates provide support and encouragement as they share information to help clients consider their various options and potential outcomes.  As a client advocate the commitment is to complete our new volunteer orientation; Client Advocate training; attend monthly in-service/staff meetings; commit to volunteering for one shift per week (3 or 4 hr. or 6 hr. –volunteer’s choice). 

Duties include answering the telephone and forwarding inquiries to proper staff member; greeting clients and connecting them to whatever services they’re requesting; doing light clerical duties such as filing, photocopying, and data entry. Also light housekeeping as needed. The commitment includes attending volunteer orientation; receptionist training; monthly in-service/staff meeting; and commit to volunteering one shift per week.

Earn While You Learn Mentor
Educating young mothers and mothers-to-be and their partners about pregnancy, child development, parenting, nutrition etc. through the use of our Earn While You Learn curriculum the EWYL Mentor encourages and supports effective and positive parenting. The clients choose a personalized lesson plan and  are empowered as they learn and earn “Baby Bucks” to spend in our store where they can purchase just about anything they would need for their baby (clothes, diapers, food, cribs, and other equipment and supplies). A requirement for this position is to have parenting experience. The commitment is to attend volunteer orientation; Earn While You Learn Mentor training; monthly in-service/staff meeting; and schedule at least 2 (3 hr.) shifts per month.

Blessing Store / Blessing Closet Organizer
Sorting, cleaning, and organizing clothing, furnishings and items donated for the clients. The commitment includes attending volunteer orientation and coming into to work  when available, preferably one shift per week or as needed if available.

Office Cleaning
Helping to maintain a clean and welcoming appearance at the Center. Vacuuming, dusting, mopping, and cleaning bathrooms, offices, and staff room/kitchen. Commitment: cleaning once a week when the office is closed on Wednesday or in the evening. Time involved depends on individual or cleaning team. (We are currently in need of willing volunteers who love to clean!)

Special Events/Fundraising
Assisting in helping with our annual fundraisers. Helping plan, organize, and carry out the events. Publicity, decorating, selling tickets, etc. Commitment varies depending on event and time availability.

Computer Work
Assisting with data entry related to fundraisers and possibly other data entry duties. Commitment varies as needed for specific events.

Bulk Mailing
Assisting with bulk mailing of newsletters or for fundraisers or special events. Commitment varies according to event and volunteer’s availability.

Church Liaison
Liaison shares information with their church regarding needs and upcoming events to support the work of the Center, especially for fundraisers, Baby Bottle Blessing, and other events.  Commitment: Attend annual church liaison meeting and special meetings related to fundraising events.

Skilled Labor
Assisting with grounds and building maintenance. I.e.; painting, electrical, plumbing, roofing, construction and landscaping.

Life Skills Labor
Liaison with a special set of skills to work directly with clientele for learning purposes.  Skills teaching nutrition, banking, sewing, cooking, buying a car, purchasing insurance, budgeting, canning and gardening, and more.
